In 2014, Baptist Health celebrated its 60th anniversary. The oncology program is the crown jewel of the Baptist Health network, with the $450 million Miami Cancer Institute slated to open in December 2016. The center will include proton beam therapy, a revolutionary radiation technology that targets cancer without damaging surrounding healthy tissue. This treatment is available at only fourteen hospitals in the US, and will be the closest proton beam program for patients in Latin America and the Caribbean.
Baptist Health is currently exploring strategic partnerships with healthcare institutions in Brazil to collaborate on its rapidly expanding oncology programs.
